Plot synopsis
It was New Year's Eve, and a Little Match Girl was retired on the cold streets selling matchsticks to the humans passing by. She hadn't sold one match through the night. the humans were around a hurry & brushed her by while forgoing searching. A little girl despised running at home while forgoing selling any matchsticks, afraid to anger her father.

Desperately trying to caring herself, a Little Match Girl so begans to weak her matchsticks. When she lighted both matchstick, a recently todays image appeared ahead of her, sole to disappear when the matchstick misused its fire. the 1st image was that of a hot cast-iron stove, something that she has been denied all evening. the next was the fully-decorated table, complete by having a stuffed goose that jumped higher from either a table & ran toward her. the third, & final, image was a beautiful Christmas tree complete with candles and ornaments.

Suddenly, the shooting star appeared across a sky, & a Little Match Girl remembered her grandmother, who it used to be that said that such an event intended that a second soul had gone to heaven. Upon lighting a second matchstick, she was faced by having a image of her asleep grannie, world health organization was super variety to the her it used to be that. Realizing that a grannie would disappear whilst a matchstick burnt out, a Little Match Girl quickly lighted 100% of her matches within an attempt to prolong a event.

Whenever a endure match died out, a Little Match Girl dreamt she was existence taken as much as heaven by her grandma. Back on Earth, her lifeless body was observed in the snow, smiling and holding the bunch of matchsticks inside her hand.

Analysis
A story is does'nt super popular due to its frank message that a glories of a next life starkly outshine the sufferings therein 1. A tendency is to sense pity for the girl and question how come there are no a single helped her.

Adaptations
Screen Gems adapted The Little Match Girl, including its grim ending, into the 1937 Color Rhapsodies animated short, considered among the studio's better films. It was nominated for the 1937 Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Cartoons), losing to Disney's The Old Mill.

A story was besides utilized as a basis for the band Groovelily's 2004 Off-Broadway musical Striking 12.
